Agent 99, ISPI's Mold Detection Dog, has
been trained to search for microbial (mold)
odor,
detect the source and alert her K-9 handler
with a 99% accuracy rate. She is able to
identify 18 different mold species and
although mold is very often invisible to the
human half of this team, Agent 99 is able to
smell mold behind wall linings, in floors,
crawl spaces and other hidden areas. By
utilizing the amazing ability of our mold
detection dog, unnecessary destruction of
material can be avoided and mold is
identified faster and more accurately. Agent
99 finds the source and we now have
identified the specific areas to sample. In
addition to her ability to find mold sources,
Agent 99 is the only mold dog able to work
in a "clean room" environment due to a
one-of-a-kind, custom designed, custom made
canine suit. This protective suit allows her
access to otherwise off-limit facility rooms
and areas (i.e. pharmaceutical labs,
hospitals). We have found that by having
Agent 99 as part of the ISPI Mold Detection
Team, cost savings can be substantial for
our customers.
Agent 99 and her K-9 handler must both be
very specifically trained. The dog must be
correctly trained to signal a source of mold
(Agent 99 has more than 800 hours of
professional training and her K-9 handler
must be trained and skilled to interpret her
signals. The team always works together and
the level of familiarity between them has
proven invaluable, providing a high level of
accuracy in detecting hidden mold for our
many satisfied clients.
